Major Employers Add their Names to JobFest Line-Up

Honda and Network Rail are among the latest companies to sign up to a major event aimed at boosting the career prospects of young people in Swindon.

A total of 34 employers will be at Swindon JobFest 2015, which is being held on Thursday, 30 April at STEAM Museum in Kemble Drive. A further eight organisations will also be at the event to offer careers advice.

Organised by Swindon Borough Council, Swindon JobFest will bring young people and employers together so they can showcase what they have to offer.

The event will provide young people with the chance to meet and engage with employers within Swindon so they can find out about the career opportunities suitable to them, whether they are apprenticeships, internships, traineeships or full-time jobs.

There will also be the chance to win an iPad mini and other prizes on the day.  Running from 2pm until 7pm in the Great Hall at STEAM, JobFest will feature a range of workshops which will focus on how to write CVs, creative approaches to job hunting and top tips on interview techniques.

Seminars will run throughout the day covering topics such as apprenticeships, career opportunities in various industries, advice on how to set up a business as well as Q&As with industry professionals.

Leading local employers such as BMW, Nationwide, Zurich, Great Western Hospital, Oak Furniture Land, Asda, TS Tech, Aldi and Waitrose will be attending on the day, while The Prince’s Trust, New College, Swindon College and Outset will join other organisations in providing expert careers advice.

Helen Close, Learning and Development Manager for Honda of the UK Manufacturing Limited, said: “We are really pleased to be involved in JobFest this year so that we can speak to young people directly about careers at Honda.

“We will have team members on hand to answer questions about working with us and what kinds of roles we are recruiting for as well as apprenticeship opportunities.”
