Budget-Friendly Family Getaways in Swindon
Nothing’s better than spending time together with your family members. Studies have shown that doing so increases happiness and satisfaction, reduces stress and anxiety, leads to a healthier lifestyle, and lengthens your life. But on top of all, it strengthens family bonds.
If you’re in Swindon, kids and parents alike will be spoilt for choice with all the countless fun and exciting activities to enjoy in the area. It’s just that budget is always a concern. But we’ve got you covered.
We’ve listed three affordable kid-friendly indoor and outdoor destinations in Swindon for a fantastic, fun, and memorable family day out!
Jungle Parc
If you’re opting for a place with outdoor activities created to cater to all kids’ abilities, Jungle Parc should be on top of your list. It’s a high-wire forest adventure explicitly designed for children from the ages of 4-10. This beautiful historic parkland is situated on the western edge of Swindon. Depending on the activity, the price per person ranges from £15 to 25.
The outdoor park offers two kinds of courses. Firstly, the Adventure Course consists of activities like swings, cargo nets, rope bridges, rocket launchers, and others suitable for kids aged four or below and at least 1.05m tall. A larger version of it is called the X-plorer Course, for kids around ten years old and at least 1.35m tall. It has more challenges, like an aerial snowboard and a giant spider’s web.
Parents can accompany their kids free of charge on the Adventure Course. Those who have older kids on X-plorer Course can either enjoy the treetops on the course too or enjoy the other places of the park. They can rent a BBQ or have a picnic by the park’s beautiful lake, walk their dogs at the 260-acre vast parkland, or play online casino games while enjoying their drinks at the park’s cafes and tea rooms around its beautiful walled garden.
Rockstar Climbing
Rockstar Climbing could be to your liking if you prefer indoor places yet are up for exhilarating climbing experiences. It’s known as Swindon’s premiere climbing and bouldering centre. It has over a 600-sqm-wide climbing area equipped with state-of-the-art climbing amenities for the whole family. Additionally, its activities are all experienced and beginner-friendly. Depending on the activity, the price per person ranges from £14 to 17.
For the kids, Rockstar Climbing offers dedicated climbing areas for those under five years old and regular children’s climbing club sessions for those aged five and above. Parents and guardians can watch them while enjoying freshly ground coffee or free WiFi at the centre’s fab café, or join the fun for a genuinely engaging family experience.
The Taster Sessions are especially recommended for young and old beginners, but there are also activities like Parties and Kids Clubs to enjoy. However, due to popularity, early reservation is suggested for these activities. Turning up and climbing casually as a family without booking is still possible, though. Lastly, rest assured that the climbing coaches are qualified enough to ensure a fun and safe climbing experience that you’ll long remember.
Jungle Kingdom
Another kid-friendly indoor place to add to your list is the Jungle Kingdom. It’s among Swindon’s most popular indoor expansive soft play centres providing an active experience for kids aged 0-10 years in a clean, safe, and friendly environment. The price per person ranges from £4-10, depending on age, number of bookings, and reservation mode. Kids under one year old can be free of charge as long as with a paying sibling.
The kids can play around the centre’s spinners, spider webs, tunnel slides, roller slides, and wavy slides. For those little ones under three, the centre has a separate toddler area where they can safely have fun. Parents can join them or sit back and relax at the centre’s “The Explorers’ Cafe,” which serves tasty hot and cold gluten, dairy-free, and kid-friendly drinks and foods. What’s more, their locally roasted Rave Coffee is a must-try!
Besides being a children’s indoor soft play centre, Jungle Kingdom can also take the hassle out of organising and hosting your kid’s party. They’re usually held in the exclusive party room inside the centre, with a special visit from the centre’s mascots, named Max (Lion), Bella (Elephant), and Chester (Tiger). Furthermore, B419 and lots of parking are very accessible from the centre because it’s based on Groundwell Industrial Estate.

A family getaway means loads of fun and memorable times together with your loved ones. The thing is, planning a day out is no walk in a picnic. There are a lot of things to consider, including your kids’ age group and budget. The good news is that if you work hard towards it, you can ensure a fun-filled, awesome and unforgettable family day out!
