Swindon's panto stars can't wait to welcome you back!
Swindon’s pantomime stars are preparing to put on a magical festive experience at the Wyvern Theatre this Christmas for the 2021 performance of Jack and the Beanstalk. Read below as we caught up with Rebecca Jardine (Jill) and Zack Guest (Jack) to find out what Swindon is in store for.
The much-loved festive tradition of visiting the pantomime is back and Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre is ready to open its doors to panto-lovers once again as Jack and the Beanstalk puts on a giant Christmas production.
Starring as Jack and his female companion Jill, Zack Guest and Rebecca Jardine gave us a run-down of what Swindon’s panto lovers can expect at the Wyvern Theatre this December.
“Everyone is so excited to be back and working on something,” said Rebecca.
“The past year has been very quiet and it’s nice to come back to a show that is really high-energy, really festive, and is such good fun.
“I’ve always loved panto, my grandparents took me to pantos throughout the years and it is just an afternoon where lots of families come together and everyone just enjoys themselves.
“It is going to be lots of festive fun. There will be lots of interaction with the crowd and everyone will have such a good time watching the show,” she added.
Zack Guest playing Jack said:
“There are lots of musical versions and panto versions of Jack and the Beanstalk, but he is just a boy who wants more.
“He wants to do something for his life, his mum, and he wants an adventure with a chance to be that hero and be that champion.
“He is a bit of an adrenaline-junkie and wants to feel that thrill and even though he spends most of the story terrified he would definitely do it all again in a flash.
“The audience can expect Jack to be someone cheeky, fun, and a character not afraid to make a fool out of themselves,” he added.
“This will be a very determined Jack who wants to prove himself and that is the kind of Jack I will be striving for.
“Pantomime is so different from any other form of theatre and it has so much flexibility and creativity.
“This is all about the sheer joy of being on stage and sharing that with the audience,” said Zack.
Discussing their characters, the duo stopped short of revealing all but did give an insight into the blossoming romance between Jack and Jill.
“My character is Jack’s love interest and at the start she isn’t allowed to love him but by the end they are together,” said Rebecca.
“I think she is a bit feisty, she wants to help Jack defeat the giant and isn’t just this damsel in distress,” she added.
