Thousands attended the light switch on which was headlined by the most popular British urban artist of this generation - Tinchy Stryder. As well as Swindon-born X-Factor contestant Jahméne Douglas.
Throughout the day, visitors and families can enjoyed free entertainment including Christmas bouncing elves all the way from the North Pole and the mesmerising Glo Hula Hooping dancer, also the much-loved Santa’s Grotto and the new Santa’s Post Office at The Brunel Shopping Centre.
The official main stage went live from 5.00pm in Wharf Green, featuring local performers including The Voice Kids finalist 2018 Lilia Slattery, Swindon’s ‘Tap Attack’ from Britain's Got Talent 2018, Phoebe Maddison from The Voice Kids 2018, Swindon’s Got Talent winner, Nathaniel Parker and Swindon Dance.
Heart Breakfast’s Ben and Mel once again hosted the main event, joined by children’s host ‘Jack Frost’ who brought festive fun and mayhem to the main stage.
At 6.00pm a dramatic firework finale lit up the sky above the town centre to celebrate the lights being turnt on.
