Hetty Feather Comes to Swindon

Roll up this autumn for Hetty Feather at the Wyvern!

Sally Cookson’s Olivier Award nominated and sell-out production of Hetty Feather comes to Swindon’s Wyvern stage this September for one big, thrilling adventure that will capture the hearts of children and adults alike.

ROLL UP and join Hetty on her escape from the Foundling Hospital.

TREMBLE as she faces Matron Stinking Bottomly.

THRILL as she discovers the squirrel house and Tanglefields Travelling Circus.

GASP as she endures a night locked in the attic.

QUAKE as she braves the scary streets of Victorian London and

CHEER as she overcomes all in the search to find her real mother and a true family of her own!

From best-selling author Jacqueline Wilson, the tale of plucky Hetty Feather is brought thrillingly to life on stage by award winning script writer Emma Reeves (cBBc’s The Story of Tracy Beaker) and the Olivier Award Nominated director Sally Cookson, whose many five star productions include Peter Pan, We’re Going on a Bearhunt and Stick Man. With an original musical score by Benji Bower, brilliant circus skills and a huge heart, Hetty Feather is a terrific adventure story and the perfect treat for the whole family.

Jacqueline Wilson has said of the production, “I am so thrilled that Hetty Feather has become a stage play! I’ve written exactly one hundred books but Hetty Feather is my number one favourite character and I’m delighted that she will be back on stage again. The team behind the production have done a magnificent job bringing the book to life and I’m so pleased that the forthcoming tour will allow even more people to see this wonderful show.”

Many real children experienced childhoods similar to Hetty's, growing up in the Foundling Hospital. Thomas Coram started this 'Hospital for the Maintenance and Education of Exposed and Deserted Children’ in 1739.

This was the first special children's charity it the UK, and over two and a half centuries it has rescued more than 27,000 babies. It continues today simply as Coram, helping children who are alone or at risk, marginalized in school or without a real home.

You can find out more about Coram by visiting www.coram.org.uk or see for yourself what it was like for children like Hetty by visiting the Foundling Museum in London and at www.foundlingmuseum.org.uk

Hetty Feather will be at the Wyvern Theatre from Wed 23 – Sun 27 September. Book your tickets now at swindontheatres.co.uk or by calling the Wyvern Ticket Office on 01793 524481 and join Hetty on her wonderful adventure.
