Fans of Popular Wizard Encouraged to Enter Writing Competition

Harry Potter fans are being invited to show off their writing skills in a competition run by Swindon Borough Council’s library service.

To celebrate the release of the new Harry Potter script, ‘Harry Potter & the Cursed Child’ at midnight on 30th July, Swindon Libraries will be inviting Swindon Library members aged 15 and over to write a piece up to 500 words, about what Harry Potter means to them.

The competition will run until Sunday, 31 July 2016.  Swindon Library members can submit their entry to any library point in Swindon and three winners will be announced shortly after 31 July.  The competition winners will receive a copy of the script each.

Theatre-goers have already been sampling a preview of the new play. The story itself is set 19 years after fans last saw Harry and the focus of the story is around Harry’s relationship with his youngest son, Albus.

The script is aimed primarily at the adult market, although interest is expected from younger readers too.

Swindon Libraries will be buying-in copies of the script. Reservation queues are sorted on a first-come first-serve basis.

For further information, contact your local library. Contact details can be found at: www.swindon.gov.uk/libraries
