Few would have missed the hype surrounding this 'racy' novel which has held its top 5 rankings in the book charts over the last 8 weeks. But what is the real opinion of this much talked about novel? We asked our resident bookworm Patricia Ledger what she thinks. We'd love to hear your opinions too so leave a comment below.

Fifty Shades of Grey is the first of a trilogy following the relationship of a young virgin, Anastasia Steele, with a multi-billionaire bachelor, Christian Grey.

There is very little plot - suffice it to say they meet when Anastasia goes along to interview him for the college magazine. He fancies her, she fancies him - she is a sweet, submissive innocent and he is an experienced, anally retentive control freak. Sounds a bit like Mills & Boon - not quite - the prose isn`t up to their standard. Throw in a bit of spanking and domination and you have an international best seller. I certainly will not be buying or reading the other two books in the trilogy. If you want erotica try D.H. Lawrence.

More like 50 shades of c**p to me.
