Huge Success for Local Event Company Planet Pursuits

Swindon based event and venue company Planet Pursuits put on a spectacular showcase event at Longdole Polo Club last weekend.

Now in its 5th year, the event was conceived by Director Simon Maddison who coordinated the event and arranged the sponsors. 

Planet Pursuits combined with five event businesses to co-sponsor a polo match at Longdole Polo Club, near Birdlip, Gloucestershire, on Sunday. 

The event featured two amazing giant hat tipis from the Stunning Tent Company, which totally blew away the clients. Purton based, The Cotswold Cooks, provided an innovative menu, including a starter that was the table decoration and an Argentine inspired slow roasted pork and Mediterranean vegetables. Beetle Juice bars created some amazing ‘polo theme’ cocktails from their stunning converted VW camper van.

Puma Hotels supported the event by accommodating guests at the beautiful Cheltenham Park Hotel and Spa. Finally, that all essential posh loo was provided by Swindon based MCM Event Loo hire.

The big day was kicked off with Latin inspired music from Koribantez, a champagne reception and featured human bronze effect sculpture of a Polo player. After a short introduction to the rules of polo and a short tacking up a pony lesson, guests were invited to lunch in the giant Tipis.

The tournament attracted six local teams, including a Planet Pursuits team, who after a poor performance on the Saturday, redeemed themselves in front of the clients to win the wooden spoon match on the Sunday.  La Piru had a nerve biting final beating the local Longdole team by just half a goal in the final.

“After a difficult recession for the events industry there’s been a notable recovery in events, team building and client hosting, these events are the prefect way for clients to experience what’s new in the industry” remarked Simon.

The events industry is contributes a huge part to the UK economy and last year year's research estimated the sector was worth a conservative £8bn. It’s clear from this one event just how many companies pull together to deliver to a successful event. Well done Planet Pursuits!
