Corporate Cake Company Celebrates it's First Birthday

Rising young entrepreneur Samantha Whittingham (28) is celebrating her first anniversary of her online enterprise providing branded cakes and cookies for businesses across the South West.

Samantha created Corporate Cakery, based in Swindon, in March 2016 after several years supplying cakes to families and domestic customers.

She said: “I realised I wanted to concentrate on the world of business. Presenting branding on a cake or a cookie at an event or as a gift for a client or supplier is a wonderful way to generate good will. I took a leap of faith by targeting this niche and it’s been an amazing year.”

During the year Samantha also earned a place on the initiative Entrepreneurial Spark which seeks to help business owners grow and work in a more effective manner.

Samantha said: “Change came when I moved from working at home to working in a commercial kitchen - sharing with another catering company – and I was in a position to make much larger orders for larger companies.

“The other caterers encouraged me to target my offering and with ongoing mentoring from Entrepreneurial Spark in Bristol, I took the plunge to rebrand and cater exclusively for businesses. The feedback from clients has been amazing.”

Having logos on a cake or cupcake can bring to life service based businesses which don’t have a physical product like legal firms, tech and financial services, Samantha said.

“Some companies offer a vital service but they can appear to have little personality and are not always visual. My products help overcome that issue and can show very quickly a company has great customer service and cares about its clients.”

Samantha's business has an online ordering system and can post cupcakes and cookies nationwide.

“My focus this year will also be on developing a healthier range of cakes - sugar free and high protein products so I can start to cater for businesses promoting health and well being.”
