April Talk with Rebecca Hillier

It’s April, the second month of Spring and does this mean April showers or will it be a time of sunshine end to end? We’re catching up with some business owners this month to see how things are looking for them. Today we're talking to Rebecca Hillier, who is the general manager of Hillier Funeral Service which is a family run and independent funeral service based in Swindon.

How is April looking for you in your business? 
We are busy getting everything ready for the opening of our new head office in Kingshill House on Kent Road this year. We are hoping to be able to share more videos and photos of our progress with the refurb.

The winter months are always the busiest so we are having a staff night out to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication so far this year. 

Are you taking part in any wider events or business collaborations this month? 
Not this month but we are looking forward to the National Funeral Exhibition in June where we get to see all our suppliers and any new products or innovations. 

This month it’s Stress Awareness Month, what does stress mean to you? 
Our business can be quite pressurised as we are always working to short timescales to get everything ready for the funeral date. We work in quite a small team so we always share our experiences and will move workload around to ensure no one feels overwhelmed. 

Is it your business’s birthday this month or an anniversary of any kind? 
This month marks our 99 year anniversary!!! 

We are very proud that we have been a family business for this length of time. We will display a post on social media however we are saving the big celebrations for next year when it’s our centenary. 

Did you know that April 28 is Pay It Forward Day? Who could you ‘pay it forward’ to? Has anyone ‘paid it forward’ to you? 
I’ve seen so many posts on Facebook of people paying it forward and I think it's such a great idea. I’ve never had anyone pay it forward for me but I will definitely be seizing the opportunity this month to pay it forward for someone else.
